So I bought this new JBP from Kazien a week ago for £875. It has a awsome nebari and taper but the trees branches have been let to grow and have now become very leggy. The plan is to cut back to inner buds and open up the top of the tree to let light in. cut back to two inner buds and alway favour younger branch buds as these are alway more likely to bud back in future.
Secondly once I have done the same with the lower branches I will wire them out flat and let them grow unchecked. after two seasons I will then cut back hard and hopefully it will bud back inn the old wood. If not the I will have to approach graft.
I will also repot it this spring. I will only take out 2cm of soil/roots and plant back into the same pot in spring.
